Blonde IQ: Everyone Worth Knowing

IMG_9877 (1024x672)

When someone knows that you work in the fashion business, they usually relate you to a couple of words such as: shallow, dumb, superficial. Is that true? No, it´s not! We are cultural people that appreciate fashion in the most artistic way, and that like to wear pretty clothes on the daily basis. We are not dumb, me know a lot of things aside from fashion. Like History, or maybe Geography (well, actually I suck at geography). The point here is to say everyone that fashion people isn´t superficial people. Some of them may be (that´s a fact), but some of us love fashion as well as many other things. For example, an activity that I highly enjoy is reading. Yes guys, reading. Not magazines, but books; real books with covers, letters, and no pictures or drawings. My collection of books has all kind of genres from political books, to horror novels that I actually love. I would lie if I say that I only like cool-intellectual books, because one of my guilty pleasures are those fashion related, chick flick, trashy books. Sorry guys, but I just can´t help it. It´s like when you watch 4 Kardashians episodes on a row, and then you say “I hate them, but I can´t stop watching their show” (I hope not to be the only one with this Kardashian issue). The point here is that I decided to create this new section called “Blonde IQ” in which I will show you the most amazing-blondish books.

For the inaugural post here we have one of my favorite books: “Everyone Worth Knowing”  by Lauren Weisberger. The theme: Fashion PR world. The story is truly amazing, it´s like “Devil Wears Prada” (Hello, same author), but in the PR world which happens to be a very cool, bitchy ecosystem full of young designers, champagne and parties. The plot is very easy; there´s a girl who doesn´t know what to do with her life, and due to his gay uncle (which happens to be the most amazing thing ever) ends up working in one of NY hottest PR firms. She´s a complete outsider but suddenly she starts dating one of NY´s hottest singles. Suddenly she transforms herself into an “it” girl that is constantly being chased by paparazzis, and stuff like that. Trust me guys, if you are reading my blog (and you like it), then you are going to love this book. There are a lot of scandals throughout the whole story, and the end is just marvelous. Kind of predictable, but marvelous. What are you waiting for? Go and buy this lovely book, and work on your Blonde IQ.
